About

A public registry that actually reads like one.

Australia’s company data is public — but it’s spread across fifteen government registers, each with its own login, search box, and PDF export. Company Radar is one search bar, one profile per company, and a citation on every fact. Free forever for humans looking things up. Pro for teams that need to watch a portfolio.

Why this exists

Same country. Fifteen government doors.

If you’re an Australian accountant, lawyer, credit manager, or journalist, you already know the drill. You need to know whether a company is trading, solvent, owned by whom, and licensed for what. The answer is always yes, it’s public, and always after you’ve logged into four different sites and paid ASIC $45 for a current extract.

We built Company Radar because that friction has a cost, and it’s borne disproportionately by small firms. A big-4 team has a Bloomberg-grade subscription. A sole-practitioner conveyancer has a spreadsheet and Google. That’s the gap we sit in.

Where the registers publish an official feed — ASIC’s Market Announcements, the ABR bulk extract — we consume it directly. Where they don’t, we fetch the public page the way a diligent human would: rate-limited, respectful of robots.txt, and always cited back to the source.

Every field on every profile says which register it came from and when we last read it. When an insolvency notice is lodged with ASIC, we know within minutes. When a GST registration lapses, we flag it. When a winding-up application hits the Federal Court list, it’s on your watchlist before the hearing. Our full source list is on the Data attribution page.

“Public data is only public if someone can actually find it. Our job is to close that gap — for free, for everyone, and without ever pretending the data is ours.”

How we operate

Four commitments, in writing.

01

Free search, forever.

Any Australian can look up any Australian company, ABN, or licence without a card, a login, or a trial timer. That tier isn’t a funnel — it’s the product. Pro pays for the engineering; the free tier pays the public-interest rent.

02

Every fact cites its source.

Every field on every profile carries a tag showing which register it came from and when we last saw it. If you’re making a decision of consequence, you can click through to the original. We’re a convenience layer, not a new source of truth.

03

No SEO farming, ever.

We don’t buy ads against people searching for their own company name. We don’t pad profiles with scraped reviews to rank for “ABC Pty Ltd complaints.” If you’ve seen that pattern before, you know which sites we’re not.

04

Your data is yours.

Watchlists, saved searches, and API keys belong to your account. Export anytime, delete anytime, no retention theatre. We don’t sell inferred signals about who’s watching whom — not to ad networks, not to debt collectors, not to anyone.
